Every scam call, phishing email, and hacked account leaves a trail. Most people never see it. This week, students at CIMAGE College, Patna learned how to follow it.

The occasion was the Digital Detective Workshop — a three-day, hands-on cyber security workshop that put students in the investigator’s chair. No slideshows about “staying safe online.” Instead: real cyber crime cases, real forensic techniques, and a real investigator showing exactly how digital criminals get caught.

The Investigator in the Room

Leading the technical sessions was Vivek Kumar, CEO of Cyber Sakha and a well-known cyber crime investigator who has worked on the kinds of cases students usually only read about in the news.

Over three days, he walked participants through the investigator’s toolkit:

Day-by-day, students moved deeper into the field:

  1. Cyber Insights — understanding today’s threat landscape and how cyber crimes actually unfold
  2. Cyber & Digital Forensics — how digital evidence is identified, collected, and preserved so it holds up in an investigation
  3. Dark Web Investigation & OSINT — how the hidden internet operates, and how open-source intelligence tools turn publicly available data into leads
  4. Real-Life Case Studies — applying all of it to actual cyber crime cases, step by step

By the final session, students weren’t just learning definitions — they were reasoning through evidence the way professionals do.

Why This Matters: Cyber Security Is a Career, Not Just a Subject

India faces a massive shortage of trained cyber security professionals, and roles like security analyst, forensic examiner, and OSINT researcher are among the fastest-growing in tech. For students of BCA and BSc.IT, this workshop was a preview of a career path that’s hiring aggressively.

That’s not a distant promise at CIMAGE. Graduates are already working across top IT and security companies — see the CIMAGE placement record — and just months ago, 111 CIMAGE students earned IBM SkillsBuild certifications in Cyber Security and AI through the ICT Academy partnership.

What the Leadership Said

Closing the workshop, Dr. Prof. Neeraj Agrawal, Director, CIMAGE Group, reminded students that cyber security, ethical hacking, and digital investigation are no longer niche skills — their importance grows every single year. His challenge to students was direct: take what you learned from industry experts and turn it into practical, career-oriented capability.

Dean Dr. Neeraj Poddar and Centre Head Mrs. Megha Agrawal congratulated participants on the workshop’s success and confirmed what students were hoping to hear: more industry-led workshops like this are coming. It’s part of CIMAGE’s standing commitment to industry-based learning — the same philosophy behind its add-on courses in ethical hacking, cloud computing, DevOps, and more.

The Bigger Picture: Learning by Doing at CIMAGE

The Digital Detective Workshop joins a growing list of hands-on programs where CIMAGE students build skills employers actually test for:

Your Turn to Investigate

If a college where you trace digital evidence in week one sounds better than one where you memorize it for exams — CIMAGE is built for you.
