The year 2024 proved to be truly special for CIMAGE in multiple ways, and one of the highlights was the launch of Bihar’s first humanoid robot, Sumedh. This remarkable innovation was an in-house creation, designed and developed entirely by CIMAGE students, showcasing their creativity, technical skills, and vision for the future. Bihar’s Technological Revolution and the launch of a Humanoid
In the presence of the Vice-Chancellor of Aryabhatta Knowledge University, CIMAGE students showcased their skills in robotics and app development.
The CIMAGE Group organized the unveiling and inauguration of Bihar’s first humanoid robot on 30th April 2024. The inauguration was performed remotely by the Vice-Chancellor of Aryabhatta Knowledge University, Prof. Sharad Kumar Yadav. The event began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony conducted jointly by Prof. Sharad Kumar Yadav, the Registrar Dr. Shankar Kumar, Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication Dr. Manisha Prakash, CIMAGE Director Dr. Prof. Neeraj Agrawal, Ms. Megha Agrawal, and Dean Prof. Neeraj Poddar.
During the event, the humanoid robot, Sumedh, performed various tasks as per the coding done by CIMAGE students, demonstrating its capabilities to the audience. The robot approached guests, recognized them, and even presented roses. When Sumedh held the Indian national flag and advanced, the entire auditorium was filled with an incredible energy. The robot also performed yoga, walked, danced, rotated, and answered questions posed by attendees, earning rounds of applause.
Innovation in Action: CIMAGE Students Build Humanoid Robot
This 6-foot advanced humanoid robot was programmed by CIMAGE students. The main contributors included BCA 6th semester students Ujjwal Kumar, Deepak Raj, Durgesh Kumar Singh, Neeraj Jha, Shreya Singh, Shantanu Pandey, and BCA 4th semester students Ujjwal Pusp and Satvik Kumar. The college provided students with all necessary resources and training to develop this humanoid robot.
Students were also trained by nationally acclaimed robotics experts through workshops. The humanoid is equipped with artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities, allowing it to answer questions based on its database and online resources. It has industrial capabilities, industrial motors, motion sensors, and ultrasonic sensors.
The robot was developed for educational purposes, fully customized to meet the needs of IT students at CIMAGE, enabling them to gain hands-on experience in robotics. Sumedh is a multi-functional robot, capable of acting as a teacher, yoga instructor, guide, DJ, anchor for events, news presenter, entertainer through dance, and even serving snacks when needed.
By bridging innovation with education, Sumedh reflects CIMAGE’s commitment to preparing students for the future, fostering both technical expertise and imaginative problem-solving that will shape the next generation of leaders in technology.
